Max en Lauri Girouard bouwen hun instrumenten vanuit Rhode Island, waar ze al jaren gestaag een naam voor zichzelf opbouwen in de mandolinegemeenschap. Vanuit hun liefde voor vintage mandolines en jarenlange experimenten met vormen en stemming bouwden ze een reputatie op als makers van instrumenten met een levendige, gebalanceerde stem. Girouard is primair een custom shop, waarbij instrumenten op bestelling worden gebouwd, een wachttijd van anderhalf jaar is daarbij geen uitzondering. Dat zo'n instrument dan toch beschikbaar is, is een zeldzame kans.
De A5 Studio is opgebouwd rond een sparren bovenblad en een gevlamde esdoorn klankkast; een klassieke combinatie die zorgt voor warmte in de lage tonen en helderheid in het hoge register. De gevlamde esdoorn hals sluit hier naadloos op aan, terwijl de ebben toets en brug zorgen voor een strakke, gedefinieerde toon met veel articulatie. Het V-halsprofiel ligt prettig in de hand en past uitstekend bij het traditionele speelgevoel dat je bij een A-stijl mandoline verwacht. De afwerking in sunburst, omlijnd door ivoroid binding, maakt het plaatje visueel compleet.
De mandoline is in 2016 gebouwd in Pawtucket, Rhode Islang, en heeft slechts lichte sporen in de lak op de achterzijde van de body. Verder zien we enkele kleine krasjes in de lak op de voorzijde van de headstock, maar de mandoline ziet er verder zeer netjes uit. Wordt met TFOA paspoort geleverd in een koffer.

Their love of vintage mandolins and years of experimenting with shapes and tuning have built a reputation for crafting instruments with a lively, balanced voice. Girouard is primarily a custom shop, building instruments to order; a wait time of eighteen months is not uncommon. That such an instrument is available is a rare opportunity.
The A5 Studio is built around a spruce top and a flamed maple back and sides; a classic combination that delivers warmth in the low end and clarity in the high register. The flamed maple neck complements this seamlessly, while the ebony fingerboard and bridge deliver a tight, defined tone with plenty of articulation. The V-neck profile is comfortable to hold and perfectly complements the traditional playing feel you expect from an A-style mandolin. The sunburst finish, framed by ivoroid binding, completes the look.
The mandolin was built in 2016 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and has only minor varnish marks on the back of the body. There are also a few minor scratches in the finish on the front of the headstock, but the mandolin is otherwise in very good condition. It comes with a TFOA passport and comes in a hardshell case.

Die A5 Studio ist mit einer Fichtendecke und einem Korpus aus geflammtem Ahorn gefertigt; eine klassische Kombination, die für Wärme im Bassbereich und Klarheit in den Höhen sorgt. Der Hals aus geflammtem Ahorn harmoniert perfekt mit dem Korpus, während Griffbrett und Steg aus Ebenholz für einen klaren, definierten Ton mit hervorragender Artikulation sorgen. Das V-Halsprofil liegt angenehm in der Hand und bietet das traditionelle Spielgefühl, das man von einer Mandoline im A-Stil erwartet. Die Sunburst-Lackierung mit Ivoroid-Binding rundet das Gesamtbild ab.
Die Mandoline wurde 2016 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, gebaut und weist lediglich geringfügige Lackspuren auf der Rückseite auf. Auch auf der Vorderseite der Kopfplatte befinden sich einige wenige, feine Kratzer im Lack. Ansonsten ist die Mandoline in sehr gutem Zustand. Sie wird mit einem TFOA-Pass und einem Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
