Product Information
At The Fellowship of Acoustics, each instrument is manually assessed for its condition, looking closely at its characteristic features and traces of use. We also take into account the age of the instrument.
We have 9 condition definitions, from 'New' to 'Sold as is'. Explanations for each condition definition can be found on our Conditions & Definitions page.
Vintage: We consider an instrument to be 'vintage' when it is 30 years or older.
Pre-owned: This is also often called 'used'. A pre-owned guitar has already had one (or more) owners. In many cases, there are therefore traces of playing on the instrument.
B-Stock: A B-Stock product is a new product that has suffered a small imperfection. This can be a small scratch or dent. The product functions properly, but due to the visual imperfection we no longer sell it as new.
New Old Stock: Often the abbreviation 'NOS' is used. These are instruments that have been in the storage of the factory or supplier for a longer period of time. This may therefore concern somewhat older models. These instruments have not been sold before, and are therefore as good as new.
Each product page states whether the product in question is in stock.
All instruments have photos taken in our own photo studio. In many cases, these are photos of the actual instrument offered. We use the following standard (exceptions may occur):
Used and Vintage Instruments: Photos of the actual instrument.
Instruments over €4500: Photos of the actual instrument.
New Instruments under €4500,-: one instrument has been used as an example. It is possible that the examples in the current stock differ slightly from this example model.
In the specifications list on the product page, under 'Other', it is stated whether sample photos or photos of the actual instrument are available.
For all our used and vintage guitars, specifications such as nut width, neck thickness and body size are measured by us. This also applies to instruments above €4500,-.
For new instruments under €4500,- we use the measurements of the builder. If these are not available, we measure it ourselves.
We offer a 1 year warranty on all used instruments.
We always have a wide range of amplifiers and accessories in stock.

Workshop
Our advice is to have your guitar serviced every six months. Especially around the change of seasons, the adjustment of your guitar can be affected by the changing temperature and humidity.
In our workshop we offer three different types of setups. This way you keep your guitar in optimal healthy condition!
Our professional luthiers are also at your disposal for maintenance or repairs! We are happy to tell you more about our services and prices.
At The Fellowship of Acoustics you will find one of the two PLEK machines in the Netherlands. With this ultramodern machine our luthiers can adjust the neck of your guitar to a thousandth of a millimeter.
Our luthiers are well trained to provide this exclusive service. With the best of man and machine, you can be sure that you will get the ideal setup! And good to know: if you bought your guitar from us, you will receive a €50,- discount on a PLEK Setup!
Our Gold Standard is our way of ensuring that every guitar arrives to you in optimal condition. Before shipping, the instrument is set up by one of our luthiers so that the guitar is delivered to you ready to play and tailored to your wishes!
This setup is included as standard, and free of charge, when purchasing an instrument.
Our Gold Standard setup uses certain values for string action. The values mentioned in the table are indications. The best setup obviously depends on the type of instrument and specific model of guitar. For example, the action of a dreadnought differs slightly from that of a 00.
Our luthiers therefore take the specific circumstances into account and adjust the guitar to the best values. Therefore, please note that your guitar's string action may differ by up to about 0.25 millimetres from the indications in the table.
It is also possible to pass on your own preferences to our luthiers.
Instrument Type: | Action: Bas (mm) | Action: Treble (mm) |
Acoustic | 2,5 | 1,85 |
Electric (depending on fingerboard radius) | 2 | 1,6 |
Bass Guitar | 2,5 | 2,2 |
Classical | 3,9 | 3 |
Gypsy | 2,9 | 2,3 |
Banjo | 2,3 | 2,3 |
