Deze vijf oorspronkelijke gitaren waren niet alleen opvallend door hun Samoa Beige, Copper Iridescent, Nugget Gold, Platinum en Viceroy Brown lakwerk, maar introduceerden ook voor het eerst de nu legendarische ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic brug en Stop Bar staartstuk op een standaard Les Paul model.
Gibson Custom heeft voor deze speciale gelegenheid een serie van slechts 350 gitaren gecreëerd - 70 in elk van de vijf historische kleuren - waarbij elk detail zorgvuldig is nagebootst om de essentie van de originelen te vangen. De lichtgewicht één-stuk mahonie body, met daarop een met dierlijke lijm bevestigde esdoorn top, vormt de basis voor deze bijzondere instrumenten. De mahonie hals met zijn karakteristieke jaren '50 Chunky D-profiel, Indisch palissander toets en authentieke trapezium-inleg, maakt het historische plaatje compleet. De 'low logo' holly headstock veneer en Kluson stemmechanieken zijn exact zoals op de originelen.
Elke gitaar is uitgerust met handgemaakte Custom Shop P-90 Soapbar elementen, handbedraad met 500k CTS potmeters en paper-in-oil condensatoren voor die authentieke vintage toon. De vaklieden van het Murphy Lab hebben elke gitaar voorzien van een "Light Aging" behandeling die decennia van licht gebruik simuleert, wat deze instrumenten een uniek karakter en vintage gevoel geeft. Inclusief een authentieke bruine/roze Lifton koffer, biedt deze commemoratieve editie een ongeëvenaarde vintage beleving en een zeldzame kans om een stukje gitaargeschiedenis te bezitten!
These five original guitars not only featured Samoa Beige, Copper Iridescent, Nugget Gold, Platinum and Viceroy Brown finishes, but also introduced the now legendary ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece to a standard Les Paul model for the first time.
Gibson Custom has created a run of just 350 guitars for this special occasion—70 in each of five historic colors—with every detail meticulously recreated to capture the essence of the originals. The lightweight, one-piece mahogany body topped with animal-glue maple provides the foundation for these special instruments. The mahogany neck with its characteristic 50s Chunky D-profile, Indian rosewood fingerboard and authentic trapezoid inlays completes the historical picture. The 'low logo' holly headstock veneer and Kluson tuners are exactly as on the originals.
Each guitar is equipped with handmade Custom Shop P-90 Soapbar pickups, hand-wired with 500k CTS potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors for that authentic vintage tone. The craftsmen at Murphy Lab have given each guitar a "Light Aging" treatment that simulates decades of light use, giving these instruments a unique character and vintage feel.
