When Martin introduced the bass-enhanded version with herringbone top trim - the HD35- in 1976, it's sales quickly exceeded those of the original D35.
Martin HD35
The D35 first saw the light of day in 1965 and offered a unique take on the then very popular dreadnought body. This model with its rosewood back and sides, inlay between the pieces, ebony bridge and fingerboard quickly became a hit. However, when Martin introduced a new version in 1976 with better bass response and herringbone top edge inlay - the HD35 - it quickly surpassed the sales figures of the original D35.
This Martin HD35 Re Imagined is a vintage-correct version of the original and so has all of the above specifications combined with the popular low profile neck and scalloped, forward shifted bracing, in the form that started it all: the Dreadnought. This Martin produces a very powerful low end, a room-wide sound with a clear definition.
