De dreadnought is de meest populaire staalsnarige gitaar aller tijden, een echte designklassieker. Atkin heeft met zijn D37 een ijzersterk dreadnought-model in het assortiment, gebaseerd op de klassieke vooroorlogse modellen uit de jaren 30. We hebben Atkin echter gevraagd om een variatie op dit model te bouwen, en we zijn dan ook blij dat we de D37S 12 Fret mogen verwelkomen bij The Fellowship of Acoustics!
De 12-fret Dreadnought is een bijzonder model, en heeft een ander karakter dan zijn 14-fret tegenhanger. Door de positionering van de brug heeft de 12-fret beduidend meer bas dan de reguliere dreadnought, en is daarom veel meer een fingerstyle-gitaar dan een strummer. De 14-fret Dreadnought werd als opvolger van de 12-fret ontwikkeld om luider en helderder te zijn, maar de 12-fret heeft altijd zijn schare fans behouden vanwege zijn onderscheidende karakter.
Als onderdeel van de 37-serie heeft Atkin ook deze gitaar uitgerust met een Indisch palissander klankkast en een baked Sitka sparren bovenblad met scalloped X-Bracing. De body wordt gesierd door een ivoroid binding en herringbone purfling, terwijl de traditionele rozet en tortoise slagplaat het plaatje compleet maken. De mahonie hals heeft een comfortabel profiel en speelt soepel, en het traditionele uiterlijk van de gitaar wordt compleet gemaakt door de slotted headstock met palissander kopplaat.
Waar Atkin al geruime tijd bewijst dat het merk als geen ander een gitaar kan bouwen, is het aging-proces misschien wel het meest indrukwekkende aspect van Atkin Guitars.
De passie waarmee deze instrumenten gemaakt zijn straalt er vanaf, en het is moeilijk om niet verliefd te worden op zowel de klank als het uiterlijk.
De gitaar wordt met echtheidscertificaat geleverd in een koffer van TKL.

The dreadnought is the most popular steel string guitar of all time, a true design classic. With its D37, Atkin has a very strong dreadnought model in its range, based on the classic pre-war models from the 1930s. However, we asked Atkin to build a variation on this model, and we are happy to have the D37S 12 Fret at The Fellowship of Acoustics!
The 12-fret Dreadnought is a special model, and has a different character than its 14-fret counterpart. Due to the positioning of the bridge, the 12-fret has significantly more bass than the regular dreadnought, and is therefore much more of a fingerstyle guitar than a strummer. The 14-fret Dreadnought was developed as a successor to the 12-fret to be louder and brighter, but the 12-fret has always retained its fan base due to its distinctive character.
As part of the 37 series, Atkin has also equipped this guitar with an Indian rosewood back and sides and a baked Sitka spruce top with scalloped X-Bracing. The body is adorned with an ivoroid binding and herringbone purfling, while the traditional rosette and tortoise pickguard complete the picture. The mahogany neck has a comfortable profile and plays smoothly, and the traditional look of the guitar is completed by the slotted headstock with rosewood headstock.
While Atkin has been proving for some time that the brand can build a guitar like no other, the aging process is perhaps the most impressive aspect of Atkin Guitars. The passion with which these instruments were made radiates from it, and it is difficult not to fall in love with both the sound and the appearance.
The guitar comes with a certificate of authenticity in a TKL hardshell case.

Die Dreadnought ist die beliebteste Stahlsaitengitarre aller Zeiten, ein echter Designklassiker. Mit der D37 hat Atkin ein sehr starkes Dreadnought-Modell im Sortiment, das auf den klassischen Vorkriegsmodellen aus den 1930er Jahren basiert. Wir haben Atkin jedoch gebeten, eine Variation dieses Modells zu bauen, und wir freuen uns, den D37S 12 zu haben. Willkommen bei The Fellowship of Acoustics!
Die Dreadnought mit 12 Bünden ist ein Sondermodell und hat einen anderen Charakter als ihr Gegenstück mit 14 Bünden. Aufgrund der Positionierung des Stegs hat die 12-Bund-Gitarre deutlich mehr Bass als die normale Dreadnought und ist daher eher eine Fingerstyle-Gitarre als eine Strummer-Gitarre. Die 14-bündige Dreadnought wurde als Nachfolger der 12-bündigen Dreadnought entwickelt, um lauter und heller zu sein, aber die 12-bündige Dreadnought hat aufgrund ihres unverwechselbaren Charakters immer ihre Fangemeinde behalten.
Als Teil der 37er-Serie hat Atkin diese Gitarre außerdem mit einem Boden und Zargen aus indischem Palisander sowie einer Decke aus gebackener Sitka-Fichte mit gewelltem X-Bracing ausgestattet. Der Korpus ist mit einem Ivoroid-Einband und einer Fischgräten-Einlage verziert, während die traditionelle Rosette und das Schildpatt-Schlagbrett das Bild abrunden. Der Mahagonihals hat ein angenehmes Profil und lässt sich geschmeidig spielen, und der traditionelle Look der Gitarre wird durch die geschlitzte Kopfplatte mit Palisanderkopfplatte abgerundet.
Während Atkin seit einiger Zeit beweist, dass die Marke eine Gitarre wie keine andere bauen kann, ist der Alterungsprozess vielleicht der beeindruckendste Aspekt von Atkin Guitars. Es strahlt die Leidenschaft aus, mit der diese Instrumente hergestellt wurden, und es ist schwer, sich nicht sowohl in den Klang als auch in das Aussehen zu verlieben.
Die Gitarre wird mit einem Echtheitszertifikat in einem TKL-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
