Atkin D37S 12 Fret Limited Dreadnought Natural Aged 2023

De 12-fret Dreadnought is een bijzonder model, en heeft een ander karakter dan zijn 14-fret tegenhanger. Door de positionering van de brug heeft de 12-fret beduidend meer bas dan de reguliere dreadnought, en is daarom veel meer een fingerstyle-gitaar dan een strummer. De 14-fret Dreadnought werd als opvolger van de 12-fret ontwikkeld om luider en helderder te zijn, maar de 12-fret heeft altijd zijn schare fans behouden vanwege zijn onderscheidende karakter.

Als onderdeel van de 37-serie heeft Atkin ook deze gitaar uitgerust met een Indisch palissander klankkast en een baked Sitka sparren bovenblad met scalloped X-Bracing. De body wordt gesierd door een ivoroid binding en herringbone purfling, terwijl de traditionele rozet en tortoise slagplaat het plaatje compleet maken. De mahonie hals heeft een comfortabel profiel en speelt soepel, en het traditionele uiterlijk van de gitaar wordt compleet gemaakt door de slotted headstock met palissander kopplaat.

Waar Atkin al geruime tijd bewijst dat het merk als geen ander een gitaar kan bouwen, is het aging-proces misschien wel het meest indrukwekkende aspect van Atkin Guitars. De passie waarmee deze instrumenten gemaakt zijn straalt er vanaf, en het is moeilijk om niet verliefd te worden op zowel de klank als het uiterlijk.

Deze Atkin is gebouwd in 2023, en verkeert met slechts zeer lichte speelsporen in excellente conditie. Op zowel de voor- als achterzijde van de headstock bevinden zich enkele zeer kleine lakchips, en achterop de hals is ter hoogte van de eerste fret een kleine ding te vinden. De gitaar is voorzien van een K&K Pure Mini pickup, en wordt geleverd in een koffer van Hiscox.

De foto van de gitaar met koffer is niet van deze exacte gitaar, maar van een vergelijkbare gitaar. Deze gitaar wordt geleverd zonder het certificaat en de hangtag, maar in een Hiscox-koffer van hetzelfde type.

The 12-fret Dreadnought is a special model, with a different character than its 14-fret counterpart. Due to the bridge positioning, the 12-fret has significantly more bass than the regular dreadnought, making it more of a fingerstyle guitar than a strummer. The 14-fret Dreadnought was developed as a successor to the 12-fret to be louder and clearer, but the 12-fret has always retained its fan base for its distinctive character.

As part of the 37 series, Atkin has also equipped this guitar with Indian rosewood back and sides and a baked Sitka spruce top with scalloped X-bracing. The body is adorned with ivoroid binding and herringbone purfling, while the traditional rosette and tortoiseshell pickguard complete the look. The mahogany neck has a comfortable profile and plays smoothly, and the guitar's traditional look is completed by the slotted headstock with a rosewood headstock overlay.

While Atkin has long proven its guitar-building prowess, the aging process is perhaps the most impressive aspect of Atkin Guitars. The passion with which these instruments are crafted radiates, and it's hard not to fall in love with both the sound and the look.

This Atkin was built in 2023 and is in excellent condition with only very minor playwear. There are a few very minor lacquer chips on both the front and back of the headstock, and a small ding can be found on the back of the neck at the first fret. The guitar is equipped with a K&K Pure Mini pickup and comes in a Hiscox hardshell case.

The photo of the guitar with its case is not of this exact guitar, but of a similar one. This guitar comes without the certificate and hangtag, but in a Hiscox case of the same type.

Die 12-Bund-Dreadnought ist ein Sondermodell mit einem anderen Charakter als ihr 14-Bund-Pendant. Als Teil der 37er-Serie hat Atkin auch diese Gitarre mit Boden und Zargen aus indischem Palisander und einer Decke aus gebackener Sitka-Fichte mit gewelltem X-Bracing ausgestattet. Der Korpus ist mit Ivoroid-Binding und Fischgrät-Einlage verziert, während die traditionelle Rosette und das Schildpatt-Schlagbrett den Look abrunden. Der Mahagonihals hat ein komfortables Profil und lässt sich geschmeidig spielen. Der traditionelle Look der Gitarre wird durch die geschlitzte Kopfplatte mit Palisanderauflage abgerundet.

Atkin hat seine Gitarrenbaukompetenz schon lange unter Beweis gestellt, doch der Alterungsprozess ist vielleicht der beeindruckendste Aspekt von Atkin Guitars. Die Leidenschaft, mit der diese Instrumente gefertigt werden, ist unübersehbar, und man muss sich einfach in Klang und Optik verlieben.

Diese Atkin wurde 2023 gebaut und befindet sich in ausgezeichnetem Zustand mit nur sehr geringen Spielspuren. Es gibt ein paar sehr kleine Lackabsplitterungen sowohl an der Vorder- als auch an der Rückseite der Kopfplatte, und auf der Rückseite des Halses befindet sich am ersten Bund eine kleine Delle. Die Gitarre ist mit einem K&K Pure Mini-Tonabnehmer ausgestattet und wird in einem Hiscox-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.

Das Foto der Gitarre mit Koffer zeigt nicht genau diese Gitarre, sondern eine ähnliche. Diese Gitarre wird ohne Zertifikat und Hangtag, aber in einem Hiscox-Koffer gleichen Typs geliefert.
