De Original Series was de allereerste reeks gitaren van Lowden in 1976, met het "O" model als eerste body ontwerp. Sindsdien zijn de "F" en concert sized "S" body aan de reeks toegevoegd, en klinkt Lowden's gepassioneerde toewijding zonder compromissen nog steeds door in hun nieuwe gitaren.
De Original Series bestaat uit vier modellen met vier hout-combinaties die George heeft gebouwd en ontworpen in de 40 jaar dat hij gitaren maakt. Anders dan bij de 45 en de 50 reeks heeft elk model van de Original Series een eigen nummer: de 22, de 23, de 25 en de 32. De O22 heeft een mahonie klankkast met ceder bovenblad.
De Original series heeft verder ook prachtige ingetogen uiterlijke kenmerken; een vijf-delige houten rosette, enkelvoudige binding en driedelige purfling op het bovenblad, palissander kopplaat en een ebben toets.Â
