Lame Horse guitars are produced by father and son duo Chris and Jeremy Jenkins. They both work in their own workshops: Chris works in Mansfield, Jeremy works in Austin. They have been building custom handmade guitars since 1993 and each of their instruments is unique and a real eye-catcher!

De Big Hoss is een instrument dat te lang op zich liet wachten. Toen hij eenmaal arriveerde, is hij echter bijna net zo populair geworden als zijn oudere, maar kleinere broer, de Saddle Pal. De twee instrumenten hebben dezelfde bodyvorm, maar de afmetingen van de Big Hoss zijn wat groter dan die van de Saddle Pal. Hij deelt alle klankkarakteristieken die de Saddle Pal zo speciaal maken, maar heeft net dat beetje meer te bieden door het grotere formaat.
Qua gebruikte materialen en subtiele details is er weinig beters te vinden dat deze Lame Horse. Zo is de klankkast gemaakt van Bocote, met daarbij een bovenblad van Engelmann sparren. De gitaar is lichtgebouwd, en daardoor enorm gearticuleerd en responsief. Ondanks het relatief compacte formaat beschikt de gitaar over voldoende bas, terwijl ook het hoog op fraaie wijze aanwezig is. Deze Lame Horse is rondom voorzien van turquoise accenten, en deze kleur komt ook weer terug in de robuuste Calton koffer waarin de gitaar wordt geleverd.
Deze Lame Horse is gebouwd in 2022, en de gitaar verkeert nog nagenoeg in nieuwstaat. Op het bovenblad zijn lichte speelsporen te vinden, net als op de klankkast. Tevens heeft het bovenblad een kleine ding, net als de binding van het bovenblad. Deze Big Hoss is desalniettemin een prachtige aanvulling voor elke gitaarcollectie, want zoiets bijzonders zie je niet vaak!

The Big Hoss is an instrument that took too long to arrive. However, once it arrived, it has become almost as popular as its older, but smaller brother, the Saddle Pal. The two instruments have the same body shape, but the dimensions of the Big Hoss are slightly larger than those of the Saddle Pal. It shares all the tonal characteristics that make the Saddle Pal so special, but has that little bit extra to offer due to its larger size.
In terms of materials used and subtle details, there is little better than this Lame Horse. For example, the sound box is made of Bocote, with a top of Engelmann spruce. The guitar is lightweight, and therefore extremely articulate and responsive. Despite its relatively compact size, the guitar has sufficient bass, while the highs are also beautifully present. This Lame Horse is provided with turquoise accents all around, and this color is also reflected in the robust Calton case in which the guitar is delivered.
This Lame Horse was built in 2022, and the guitar is still in almost new condition. There are light play marks on the top, as well as on the sound box. The top also has a small ding, as does the binding of the top. This Big Hoss is nevertheless a wonderful addition to any guitar collection, because you don't see something this special very often!

Die Big Hoss ist ein Instrument, dessen Markteinführung etwas auf sich warten ließ. Doch nach ihrer Veröffentlichung erfreut sie sich fast ebenso großer Beliebtheit wie ihr älterer, aber kleinerer Bruder, die Saddle Pal. Beide Instrumente haben die gleiche Korpusform, doch die Abmessungen der Big Hoss sind etwas größer als die der Saddle Pal. Sie teilt alle klanglichen Eigenschaften, die die Saddle Pal so besonders machen, bietet aber dank ihrer Größe das gewisse Extra.
In Bezug auf Material und Details gibt es kaum etwas Besseres als diese Lame Horse. So besteht beispielsweise der Resonanzkörper aus Bocote mit einer Decke aus Engelmann-Fichte. Die Gitarre ist leicht und daher extrem artikuliert und reaktionsschnell. Trotz ihrer relativ kompakten Größe verfügt sie über ausreichend Bass, während auch die Höhen wunderbar präsent sind. Die Lame Horse ist rundum mit türkisfarbenen Akzenten versehen, und diese Farbe spiegelt sich auch im robusten Calton-Koffer wider, in dem die Gitarre geliefert wird.
Diese Lame Horse wurde 2022 gebaut und befindet sich noch immer in nahezu neuwertigem Zustand. Es gibt leichte Spielspuren auf der Decke sowie am Resonanzkörper. Die Decke hat außerdem eine kleine Delle, ebenso wie das Binding der Decke. Diese Big Hoss ist dennoch eine wunderbare Ergänzung für jede Gitarrensammlung, denn so etwas Besonderes sieht man nicht oft!
