We know Atkins from the beautiful and good sounding dreadnoughts, OM's and slope shoulders that are handmade in Canterbury, England. This time, however, a Petite Bouche Gypsy guitar appeared in our shop. This model does not belong to one of their standard series and is therefore an extremely special and rare appearance.

Deze Atkin Petite Bouche is een schitterende interpretatie van de klassieke Gypsy Jazz gitaar, gemaakt door meester-gitaarbouwer Alister Atkin in 2000. De bijzondere constructie met het Sitka sparren bovenblad met het kleine klankgat en de traditionele ladder-bracing, levert samen met de palissander klankkast die authentieke Gypsy Jazz klank met een scherpe attack en uitstekende projectie die nodig is om boven een ensemble uit te komen.
De gitaar onderscheidt zich door zijn sublieme afwerking met ebben binding, verfijnde multi-line purfling en een elegante ebben toets met parelmoeren inleg. This Atkin Petite Bouche is a beautiful interpretation of the classic Gypsy Jazz guitar, made by master luthier Alister Atkin in 2000. The special construction with the Sitka spruce top with the small sound hole and the traditional ladder bracing, together with the rosewood back and sides, delivers that authentic Gypsy Jazz tone with a sharp attack and excellent projection that is needed to stand out above an ensemble.
The guitar is distinguished by its sublime finish with ebony binding, refined multi-line purfling and an elegant ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl inlays. The soft V-profile of the mahogany neck and the zero fret together ensure a comfortable playing experience and the characteristic response that is typical of this type of guitar, while the Miller tuners with ivoroid buttons are not only visually attractive but also offer excellent stability.
This Atkin was built in 2000, and is in very good condition. There are playwear on the top and the back and sides, as well as on the neck.
