The D42 is, together with the D45, one of the most eyecatching dreadnoughts from the "standard" Martin line-up.

“Standaard” is dan ook niet het woord dat we zouden gebruiken om dit model te omschrijven.
De zorgvuldig geselecteerde Indisch palissander achter- en zijkanten en het Sitka spruce bovenblad met forward shifted scalloped bracing vormen het kloppend hart van deze gitaar en zijn verantwoordelijk voor die kenmerkende Martin dreadnought sound.
Wat deze D-42 onderscheidt van de andere dreadnoughts in de Standard line-up zijn de ivoroid bindingen en Style 42 abalone inleg die de body, maar ook de toets en zelfs de brug omringen en sieren. De gouden opengear stemknoppen, gecombineerd met het abalone bloklogo in de kop, geven het instrument een zekere autoriteit die past bij zijn krachtige klankkarakter.
En over klank gesproken—deze gitaar klinkt precies zoals je mag verwachten van een topklasse dreadnought: extreem krachtig, maar toch helder en sprankelend tot aan de hoogste posities op de hals. Dit is geen D-28 met extra inlays, dit is een gitaar uit een volledig andere klasse.
Dit specifieke exemplaar dateert uit 2010 en verkeert nog steeds in uitstekende staat. Er is een kleine lakscheur bij de brug zichtbaar en lichte gebruikssporen rond het slagplaatgebied. Wordt geleverd in een hardshell koffer met TFOA paspoort.
"Standard" however is not a term we would associate with this model.
The carefully selected Indian Rosewood back and sides and Sitka spruce top with forward shifted scalloped bracing make up the most important part of the instrument and are responsible for the signature Martin dreadnought sound.
What sets this D-42 apart from the other dreadnoughts in the Standard line-up are the ivoroid bindings and Style 42 abalone inlays which surround and adorn the body, but also the fingerboard, and even the bridge. The gold open-gear tuners, combined with the abalone block-logo headstock inlay, give the instrument a certain authority matching its powerful tonal character.
And while we're talking sound—this guitar delivers exactly what you’d expect from a top-of-the-line dreadnought: extremely powerful, yet clear and brilliant all the way up the fretboard. This is not simply a D-28 with more inlays; it's in an entirely different league altogether.
This particular D-42 dates back to 2010 and is still in excellent condition. There is a small crack in the lacquer near the bridge, and some playwear near the pickguard. The guitar comes in a hardshell case with TFOA passport.

Was diese D-42 von den anderen Dreadnoughts der Standard-Linie abhebt, sind die Elfenbeineinfassungen und die Style 42 Abalone-Inlays, die den Korpus, aber auch das Griffbrett und sogar den Steg umgeben und verzieren. Die goldenen Mechaniken mit offenem Zahnrad und die Kopfplatteneinlage mit Abalone-Blocklogo verleihen dem Instrument eine gewisse Autorität, die zu seinem kraftvollen Klangcharakter passt.
Und wenn wir schon über den Klang sprechen - diese Gitarre liefert genau das, was man von einer Dreadnought der Spitzenklasse erwartet: extrem kraftvoll und dennoch klar und brillant bis hinauf zum Griffbrett. Sie ist nicht einfach eine D-28 mit mehr Einlagen, sondern spielt in einer ganz anderen Liga.
Diese D-42 stammt aus dem Jahr 2010 und ist immer noch in ausgezeichnetem Zustand. Es gibt einen kleinen Riss im Lack in der Nähe der Brücke, und einige Spielspuren in der Nähe des Schlagbretts. Die Gitarre wird in einem Hartschalenkoffer mit TFOA-Pass geliefert.
