Powers Electric A Type Aubergine

When we first saw Powers Electric's guitars during our trip to Taylor, we knew immediately: we must have them!

Most people will know Andy Powers primarily from his role at Taylor Guitars. In 2014, Andy joined Taylor Guitars as a Master Builder. Since joining Taylor, Andy has focused on refining the designs of Taylor's acoustic guitars. This has resulted in a series of tone-enhancing innovations, including his V-Class bracing, along with many award-winning models. But what Taylor fans may not know is how deeply rooted Andy's passion is in the world of electric guitars.

In addition to his work at Taylor Guitars, Andy has focused on a new solo project: his own line of electric guitars. Initially, Andy wanted to design an electric guitar that reflected the character and style of Taylor Guitars. However, according to Taylor founder Kurt Listug, this limited the potential he saw in Andy's project. Therefore, Andy chose to forge his own path, drawing inspiration from his other great passions: cars and surfing. From this combination, the first Powers Electric guitar was born: the A-Type.

This A-Type features an Urban Ash body with a solid maple top. It has an Aubergine finish and further elegant details such as a white pearloid pickguard and unique knobs crafted from layers of surfboard resin. The CamTail vibrato, designed by Andy himself, and the steel bridge with an ebony saddle are complemented by two FF42 single-coil pickups with a warm, hi-fi sound.
