Martin D18 1956

A vintage Martin D18 is one of those guitars that makes the heart beat faster. Praised for its versatility and distinctive tone, this guitar is one of the greatest sources of inspiration in the guitar world.

The Martin D18 is a guitar that can undoubtedly be considered an absolute classic in the guitar world. Over the years, the specifications of this guitar model have been regularly modified, such as the bracing, the fingerboard inlays, and the binding material. The 1950s were a relatively quiet period for the Style 18, and that's why this 1956 D18 still has many features that have been found on the D18 since the late 1940s!

To get this 1956 D18 as beautiful as it is today, the skilled luthiers in our workshop had to do a lot of work, but the result is definitely impressive! To address a significant bulge in the top, several braces were re-glued, and one of the finger braces was replaced. The bridge plate was also replaced, firmly anchoring the strings under the bridge. You can immediately hear and feel this in the guitar's response and sustain. The guitar is now perhaps more stable than it has ever been!

In addition to these repairs to the inside of the soundboard, the exterior was also addressed. The top finish was completely sanded off around the non-original pickguard, but we applied a nearly perfect matching finish, restoring the guitar's appearance. The guitar also received a neck reset, and a refret was performed at an earlier stage. Furthermore, we see several repaired cracks on both sides of the soundboard near the endpin, and the guitar also received a new bridge saddle.

With a rich history under its belt, this special D18 is looking for a new adventure. The guitar comes with a TFOA passport and comes in a vintage Martin hardshell case.
