The José Ramírez 1A is built on the principles of the legendary and classic model designed by José Ramírez III in the 1960s. This period marked Ramírez's golden age, during which his beautiful creations influenced guitar design and building methods worldwide.
It was also during this period that Ramírez discovered cedar as a phenomenal tonewood for his guitars. Its excellent bass response and high volume made this wood a huge success among classical guitarists. This led to cedar being used by almost all guitar makers, resulting in the wood becoming inextricably linked to Spanish guitar making.
The 1A combines time-honored building methods with modern technology, resulting in a deep, powerful, and rich sound. This guitar features Indian rosewood back and sides, a cedar top, a cedar neck with an ebony fingerboard, and a rosewood bridge. The long 664 mm scale length gives the guitar slightly higher string tension, resulting in a brighter sound and better note articulation.
This Ramirez 1A was built in 1980 and is in very good condition. The guitar has clear playwear and dings on the top, back and sides, and neck. A crack on the headstock has been repaired, and a refret has been performed. The fingerboard side was sanded, after which a new finish was applied at the neck-to-finger joint. Finally, the nut was slightly raised.
The guitar comes with a TFOA passport and comes in a hardshell case.
