With its striking orange finish and unmistakable hollow-body silhouette, the Gretsch 6120 is a guitar you can't miss, and the moment you strum it, you'll immediately understand why so many guitarists have fallen in love with it.
The 6120 first appeared in 1954 as the Chet Atkins Hollow Body, designed in collaboration with the legendary country guitarist. The model quickly became an icon, not only in country but also in rockabilly and rock 'n' roll, thanks in part to names like Eddie Cochran and later Brian Setzer. The flamed maple body, the Bigsby vibrato, and the signature Filter'Tron pickups have remained the hallmarks of the 6120 over the years. This 2002 example is a prime example of how Gretsch honors that heritage.
The Filter'Tron humbuckers deliver the sound the 6120 is known for: clear, snappy, and full of character, with that typical Gretsch twang that sits somewhere between a single-coil and a humbucker. The Bigsby vibrato adds a smooth, expressive vibrato without throwing off the tuning, and the ebony fingerboard plays pleasantly and quickly. Whether you play rockabilly, country, or indie, this guitar feels right at home in all those genres.
This left-handed Gretsch 6120 from 2002 has a few dings on the top near the control knobs. There are also light playwear on the back of the body and the hardware, and a small dent on the back edge of the headstock. Overall, however, the guitar is very clean and comes with a TFOA passport in a Gretsch hardshell case.
