The Gretsch 6120 is inextricably linked to Chet Atkins, and this 1960 example represents the first generation of this iconic model. After its introduction in 1954, the 6120 gradually became thinner, and this 2.5-inch-thick 6120 is a beautiful example of Gretsch's response to the successful thinline guitars of the time.

Designed in collaboration with Nashville's most famous guitarist, the model drew on Chet's extensive experience in both the studio and on stage to create an exceptionally versatile, playable electric instrument. These are now incredibly rare vintage guitars, and finding one from the 1960s in excellent condition is a collector's dream come true! The dual Filter'Tron humbucking pickups deliver that sought-after, warm Gretsch tone with clarity and depth, perfect for a range of genres from rockabilly to jazz. The Bigsby vibrato tailpiece allows for smooth pitch modulation, a feature beloved by guitarists for its expressive potential.

This 6120 still looks very neat and, considering its age, has very little playwear in the finish. The flamed maple top shows light playwear and a few very minor dings, and the back of the body shows some superficial buckle wear. There are also some dents visible on the back of the neck, and the fingerboard inlay has shrunk somewhat, and the binding shows small cracks here and there. Unfortunately, the binding on the body is also no longer completely intact, especially visible at the heel. On the side of the body near the output jack, there are some cracks visible, running from the screw holes in the jack plate. Finally, a refret was performed at some point, and a compound radius was added to the fingerboard. Nevertheless, this Gretsch is a beautiful vintage guitar that oozes mojo!

From Eddie Cochran and Duane Eddy to George Harrison and Brian Setzer: several generations of guitar heroes have fallen in love with the 6120. Exceptional, rare, and fantastic-sounding: it's still impossible not to fall in love with this Gretsch icon!

The guitar comes with a TFOA passport in the original white Gretsch hardshell case.
