The Gibson J45 Legend from 2008 is a special version of Gibson’s iconic workhorse, built with premium tonewoods normally reserved for much more expensive models. Featuring an Adirondack spruce top, Madagascar rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and scalloped X-bracing, this J45 delivers a tone reminiscent of the most beloved vintage examples from the ’40s and ’50s.

The scalloped X-bracing contributes to an open, airy sound with excellent projection, while the mahogany body provides the warm, balanced character the J45 is known for. Thanks to the use of Adirondack spruce instead of standard Sitka spruce, the top is more responsive and dynamic. The sound is exactly what you would expect from a vintage-spec J45: warm, full, and beautifully balanced between sparkling highs and a strong, deep bass.

This 2008 J45 shows clear signs of use. Two small pieces of wood were professionally inserted into the top of the body, likely where a tone and volume knob were once installed, as well as a small patch next to the bridge pin. There are also dents and scratches on the body, though the guitar remains in very good condition overall. Despite these cosmetic imperfections, the instrument is technically in completely sound condition. It is fitted with a K&K Trinity Pro Mini system, although currently only the transducers are functional; the microphone and preamp are missing.

The fact that this guitar has been played extensively is no surprise: this J45 Legend sounds absolutely stunning. You can immediately hear how beautifully it has opened up over the years. It comes in a case with a TFOA passport.
