The Byrdland, the groundbreaking debut in Gibson's Thinline series. For guitarists seeking a combination of elegance and comfort, this masterpiece offered the perfect answer. With its streamlined design and slim body, it offered playability that differed from traditional archtop models such as the L5.Thanks to the joint efforts of guitarists Byrd and Garland, the Byrdland saw the light of day, characterized by a shorter scale length and a narrower neck, a breakthrough for complex playing techniques. Launched in 1955, the Byrdland combined the refined character of a custom-made L5CES with a slimmer profile. And to ensure easy access to the upper frets, the guitar features a Venetian cutaway, which replaced the Florentine cutaway in 1969.This guitar, built in 1969, features two Patent No. humbuckers and fully original electronics. The guitar's finish displays the crackle and signs of wear so characteristic of vintage Gibsons, giving it its beloved appearance.A crack can be found in the wood near the jack, and two wooden blocks have been placed on the inside of the body to support the top and hold it in its optimal position.
The original Kluson Sealfast tuning machines are located on the back of the Flower Pot-patterned headstock, and the beautiful engraved 'Triple Loop' tailpiece leaves no doubt: this is a genuine Byrdland!
