The Telecaster has long been a favorite among many guitarists; praised by many for its no-nonsense character, but equally loved for its versatility. No musical style is too powerful for the all-round Telecaster!
The model had been an indispensable part of the guitar landscape since the early 1950s and has essentially remained completely unchanged over the years. A significant moment arrived for Fender in 1966, when Leo Fender sold his company to CBS. From that point on, Fender focused more on mass production, and changes were also made to the specifications, including the use of different finishes and materials for the fretboard inlays and pickguards. According to critics, instruments from the CBS era are inferior to guitars from Fender's early period, but we must honestly say that this 1978 Telecaster is simply a very fine guitar!
This 1978 Telecaster is no longer entirely original, just as so many Fenders have fallen victim to modifications over the years. The guitar has undergone a refinish from a non-original red finish to a nitrocellulose Butterscotch Blonde applied by Haar Guitars, making the grain of the ash body clearly visible. The pickguard has been replaced with a single-ply black one, but the original pickguard is included in the case. The guitar has had a refret at some point, and moisture has gotten under the lacquer along the edges of the fretboard, causing it to turn dark. Additionally, the nut has been replaced.
The neck bears the stamp 1303 - 1681, which means we are dealing with a standard Telecaster neck (13), made of maple (03). The neck was made in week 16 of 1978, specifically on the first day of the week. Furthermore, this Telecaster features two original CTS potentiometers from 1977, and the original bridge pickup has been rewound. The remaining hardware, including the tuning machines and bridge, is original, making this Telecaster a fine instrument with a story. A real player ready for his next musical adventure!
The guitar comes with a TFOA passport in the original Fender case.
