Eric Clapton is undoubtedly one of the most influential figures in the guitar world; from his music with The Yardbirds, Cream, and his solo work to his constant drive to improve his favorite instrument, the guitar!
Clapton used his most famous Stratocaster, the Blackie, from 1970 until 1983, when the guitar was so worn out that it was unusable. Roger Giffin built two copies of his beloved Strat, after which Clapton was approached by Dan Smith to release a signature model. This model was released in 1988, and this Candy Green Stratocaster is a guitar from the first generation of Clapton signatures.
This Clapton Stratocaster has unfortunately been stripped of some of its signature features. Regarding the electronics, for example, the characteristic Lace Sensor pickups and TBX tone control have been replaced by a prewired Custom Shop pickguard with three Fat 50s pickups. The tremolo is also not locked, and it's also noticeable that the nut has been replaced with a black one.
The guitar also has playwear on the body and neck, including moderate buckle wear on the back of the body. However, it's a great-playing and great-sounding Stratocaster that can be completely restored to its Clapton style with a few simple adjustments. It comes with a TFOA passport and comes in a Fender hardshell case.
