With the Hill Country Series, Collings introduces an entirely new tonal color to their acoustic guitar range. The Collings DS1A Hill Country Series is an exceptional 12-fret Dreadnought that pushes the boundaries of acoustic sound. This body shape was designed nearly a century ago as an oversized Hawaiian guitar. Collings has retained the shape and the wide neck with a slotted headstock from that era, but their DS models are thoroughly modern guitars with a sound entirely their own.

With a powerful, warm bass voice and a dry character, this model delivers a tone with a full low end that feels instantly familiar for various playing styles. The instrument's responsive articulation is versatile enough for fingerstyle, singer-songwriters, and other acoustic styles.
This guitar is built with an Adirondack spruce top and Honduran mahogany back and sides, resulting in a rich tonal spectrum with plenty of dynamics. The body is finished with tortoise binding and a carefully hand-cast pickguard, rosette, and heel cap, which underscore the visual character of the Hill Country series. The ebony fingerboard features elegant mother-of-pearl dot inlays and has a compound radius for optimal playing comfort.

The DS1A Hill Country features a fully adjustable truss rod, a mortise & tenon hybrid neck joint, and an aged bone cutthrough saddle, ensuring the tone remains clear and balanced across the entire neck. The Honduran mahogany neck features a unique Hill Country neck profile that tapers from Modified C to Modified V and is finished with an ultra-thin high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer that fully brings out the natural resonance of the wood.
