Collings D1AT Traditional Sunburst 2018

Collings’ Traditional Series, also known as the “T-Series,” represents a wonderful vintage-inspired tonal variation on the signature Collings sound!

Designed and built to capture both the sound and feel of highly sought-after pre-war guitars, with a slightly looser, more “played-in” response and tone. The bracing and wood selection have been carefully adjusted in weight and thickness to create a voice with warm, rounded highs and a fuller, more present low-midrange, while retaining a quick attack and strong projection.

Beyond their tonal character, the Traditional models also stand out visually thanks to their classic appointments. These include traditional aesthetic details such as mother-of-pearl inlays, custom wooden purfling, and a matching rosette. The body is finished in an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer with a beautiful sunburst finish, contributing to its open resonance and vintage playing feel.

These guitars also feature abbreviated soundboard grafting (tongue brace) and a unique neck construction specifically developed to support the looser feel and distinct voicing of the Traditional Series, combined with the signature Traditional neck carve. In short, a true bluegrass beast.

This 2018 Collings shows play wear primarily on the body. A small ding is visible next to the pickguard, along with a few light scratches on the top beneath the strings. There are also some superficial scratches and small dings on the sides and back. Nevertheless, the guitar looks very clean overall and remains in excellent condition. Comes in a hardshell case with a TFOA certificate.
